how to meet someone at the wedding [Page 1 of 3]

Everyone knows that one of the biggest perks of being a groomsman is who you might meet from the opposite side of the aisle or who may be admiring you from afar. Everyone is dressed up, love (and longing) is in the air, and the drinks are flowing. Best of all, you know the ladies are thinking the same thing. But how do you find her in a crowd and in such a short window of time?

Research

The easiest way to find potential future dates (future as in "after the wedding") is to casually ask the groom or bride if there might be any cool single girls at this wedding   It is likely that the bride--or maybe the groom--knows you and the members of the bride's wedding party pretty well. They'll be able to do a quick mental scan to come up with any potential matches. They'll also be able to warn you of anyone who might go from "she's a ten" to "here comes trouble" in sixty seconds, so you won't waste any valuable time scoping out the scene. Of course, there's no guarantee there will be single bridesmaids, or that there's a match for you among them, but more than one young man throughout history has been known to strike gold. There are guaranteed, however, to be plenty of single women. (They toss the bride's bouquet for a reason.)

Look Your Personal Best

You may not be the best-looking groomsman in the bunch, but this is no time to be looking left and right. Chances are, these guys are your friends. What you can do, is show up looking your absolute best. This means that if the wedding is six months away and you're completely out of shape, consider jogging and free weights whenever you find the time. You'll feel better and look better. Check out GroomGroove.com's Get Fit Groom article.   Don't go overboard just for this event, but even a light exercise routine a few days a week can tone you up and give you more energy.   In general, you never know who you're going to meet on any given day, so being reasonably fit at all times gives you added confidence and stamina. Keep in mind, however, that if you get measured for your tux a bit too early, it won't fit your chick-magnet body come wedding day.
