Sunset marriage proposal

At the time of my proposal, I was living in Mountain Home, AR. My girlfriend (who is now my wife) was visiting for the weekend. After sweating it out during the week due to the ring not arriving from Oklahoma City when I thought it would as well as rain being predicted in the forecast (you’ll see later), my plan finally came together. My wife is the type of person who likes to know everything, so I knew surprising her would be difficult. I informed my boss of my plans and she allowed me to take the afternoon off to set-up everything. My wife had always wanted me to take her on a sunset cruise on my boat out on Lake Norfork. I knew this would be the perfect opportunity for me to surprise her, since she wouldn’t think anything of it. That afternoon, I went out to the boat and took a cooler with wine and some fancy wine glasses and got everything all nice and cleaned up. After everything was ready, I told her I was coming home from work. I got home and changed and told her I wanted to take her on a sunset cruise. She, obviously, was very excited and later told me she didn’t think anything unusual was going on. We started out in the boat listening to music and dancing and just having fun! Little did she know, the whole time I was sweating bullets as I kept making sure the ring was in my pocket securely (I could just see it falling into the lake!). I actually brought along my video camera and told her I wanted to record us dancing and our sunset together. I strategically placed it in the front of the boat, so that it would catch everything! After listening to various love and dance songs, I put my Phil Collins CD into my CD player. Just as the sun was setting on the horizon, I started playing the song, “Take Me Home”. This is significant because we were listening to this song not long after we had started dating and, on that day, I told her that I was falling in love with her and I knew then and there that she would someday be my wife. We started dancing and I began telling her how much she meant to me and that she was the girl of my dreams. I then told her that the song, “Take Me Home”, would have new significance because I wanted to take her home with me and be the reason I come home every single day for the rest of my life. As I got down on one knee, she started crying tears of joy as I asked her to marry me! She, of course, said, “Yes!” We then hugged and laughed and cried tears of joy. It was awesome! I then told her that we needed to get back to the dock, as I had made us reservations at one of our favorite restaurants. As soon as we walked in, she could not believe her eyes! Everyone in her family as well as everyone in my family had driven over 3 1/2 hours up from Fort Smith, AR, and Memphis, TN, respectively, to celebrate the occasion with us. It was such an awesome experience and I am so glad we had a wonderful sunset and the predicted rain did not spoil my plans!

The video does this much more justice than my typing can, I am sure!
