At the Winter Formal, Mikey and I had an AMAZING last dance. It was so perfect. I couldn’t have felt more in love with the most amazing man in the entire world.

We left the dance and headed back to Anderson and I assumed he was going to drop me off at my dorm, but instead he told me that he had a surprise for me. He said that he wanted one more dance before the night ended, so we drove back around to his dorm and he ran inside. When Mikey came back out, he had the Steven Curtis Chapman CD. Then he drove us back to my car in front of my dorm because his car doesn’t have a CD player.

When our song started playing (I Will Be Here), we started slow dancing (about 12:40am) right outside my car. He sang the song to me and at the end of the song, we hugged for a few more seconds. I remember having my hands on his neck and feeling his pulse. I didn’t think someone’s heart could beat so fast!

All of a sudden, he started to go down on one knee and pulled the ring box out of his pocket. It is the cutest little box! It looks like a mini jewelry box. When he showed me the ring, I actually couldn’t believe it was happening. We both started crying!

While he was still down on the ground, campus safety walked up and told us we needed to go inside. We said we would and sort of ignored him I pulled him up and told him yes and we hugged and cried and hugged and cried. Then I realized that I was still holding the box with the ring in it, so I told him to put it on me and he did. It fit perfectly.

Campus safety marched up again and said something about making us leave if we didn’t go inside. I leaned down and got the CD out and turned off my car and we headed for the lobby of my dorm.

I can’t believe God has blessed me with such an incredible man that I will someday call my husband! We have been through a lot of tough stuff, and we always come out better on the other side. Relying on God for life’s answers is the only way to go…I have found that out the hard way.
