wedding car alternatives [Page 1 of 1]

You or your bride may want to arrive at her wedding in something other than a white limo, stretch SUV or Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, circa 1962. Here are some alternatives to motor vehicles for the discerning and adventurous bride and groom.

Horse-drawn carriages

Horse-Draw carriages make for a fairy tale wedding in the eyes of your bride. The availability of this option depends on where you find yourself - if you're in New York City where horse-drawn carriages are part and parcel of a Central Park Wedding, so it'll no sweat. If you're in Edmonton or Los Angeles, you might have to look a little harder. That said, the success of the horse-drawn carriage as a wedding day transportation idea depends largely on the weather. Rain and wind can turn Cinderella's carriage into a nightmare. No one can predict the rains in June or July. Furthermore, we can predict that the said horses will relieve themselves at least once during the trip. (Big drawback, really). Finally, horse-drawn carriages can transport a maximum of four persons, and probably more likely just the bride and groom. This leaves grooms figuring out how to get the rest of the wedding party to the photo shoot or wedding reception. Still, a horse-drawn carriage adds a real touch of class to an already formal wedding.

Pedicab or Rickshaw

If you're having a low-key and casual wedding, it might be fun to arrive at the photoshoot or wedding reception courtesy of a pedi-cab or a rickshaw. Like the horse-drawn carriage, this option is at the mercy of the forecast. Your bride is going to want to make sure her wedding dress stays dry.

Trolley or Double-Decker Bus

In an environmentally friendly way, a trolley bus or double decker bus can be a great way to shuttle your wedding guests around. There are many benefits to hiring a trolley or double-decker bus. Not only is it large enough to fit the entire wedding party, but it can also help transport guests from the ceremony to the reception while the wedding party is having photographs taken. You'll be surprised to know that trolley buses and double-decker buses aren't as expensive as you might expect. Figure on spending between $400 and $600 for the privilege of mass transportation. Check out your local Grayline Tour company for information on how to reserve a bus.
