things to do on a honeymoon [Page 1 of 2]

Sitting on the beach can be great. A book, your bride, a tropical breeze, and waves will never cease to be exciting. However, you and your bride may get a bit tired of sitting out in the sun for five days straight. For some newlyweds couples – especially if their destination is not a remote island – a little bit of research will play a part in scheduling a honeymoon itinerary that keeps things fresh. GroomGroove.com tells grooms how.

A beach is not enough

Anyone who has been to Florida for spring break or a Caribbean destination for a honeymoon understands that sitting on the beach rocks, but only in stretches. It can be downright boring just to hang out in the sun for more than a couple of days.

Going to a show

For grooms and brides that have chosen to honeymoon in a metropolitan area abroad, they will almost certainly have access to live theater, standup comedy, dance performances, and other types of shows. The key here is to give yourselves a “main event” for the day to guarantee that you are not wandering aimlessly in search of entertainment. If the newlyweds are honeymooning in Dublin, for example, they’ll want to reserve tickets ahead of time to catch a show at The Abbey Theatre. After the show, of course, the groom and bride can be a bit more spontaneous and grab a pint down the pub on the recommendation of a local.

Honeymoon sports

For grooms and brides that are active, the idea of playing or learning a sport or two is a natural. Of course, sports doesn’t need to mean extreme sports like bungee jumping, but might mean taking golf lessons or playing tennis. It could also mean going for a hike. Live music

Live music is something that the now husband-and-wife duo can find on the streets of Bratislava for free, or at the famous Sydney Opera House for about $100 a couple. If you are in Italy and your bride is just dying to hear a famous tenor perform, be sure to find out in advance whether this is something that’s likely to sell out. If you are in France, you may want to attend one of their many annual music festivals to get a variety of sights and sounds on your honeymoon abroad. Popping into a local bar or coffee house that features music can be a great, more spur-of-the-moment approach to catching local acts. Find out from your hotel staff, local guidebooks or city-focused magazines where they go to hear live music. Do some advanced research and you’ll win some great bonus points with your bride.
