organizing the bestman and groomsmen
[Page 2 of 3] ![]() Groom Duty #2 - Get the groomsmen fitted in wedding attire Once you've figure out whom your best man and groomsmen will be, it will be important to coordinate with your bride what the men are wearing to the wedding. Each of the groomsmen will be required to have a coordinated outfit. This doesn't just magically happen by the grace of wedding fairies - no, you can bet your bride will want you to coordinate with the groomsmen. Be it a beach wedding or a black tie event, the groom is likely to direct his groomsmen where to get fitted for a tuxedo, and when. If everyone lives in the same town, it's a matter of planning for a fitting session at the local tuxedo shop on a rainy, cold Sunday afternoon, or before a round of golf. If the groomsmen are spread out, then the groom will want to put his thinking cap on to figure out how to get everyone kitted. Trust us. Take this painful task away from your bride, who has already got a ton of things on her mind. She'll adore you for it. See also below about having the groomsmen pick up their wedding attire in a timely fashion. Groomsmen are big boys. They'll be responsible for returning their tuxedos. Groom Duty #3 - Who is planning the bachelor party? While it's true that you're likely only going to have to show up at your bachelor party, sometimes you'll need to do some prodding to get the best man started on planning it. In any event, you're likely going to want to have a say in what the party will look like, as well as the tone. Groom Duty #4 - How are the groomsmen getting to town, and where are the crashing? Skip this paragraph if your groomsmen live in the same town as you. If your best man and groomsmen are flying or driving in for the wedding, make sure they know exactly when the first wedding-related event is scheduled to take place. This is likely to be the wedding rehearsal. If they're flying in, get their airline and flight numbers. Flights get cancelled and delayed, and it will only add to your bride's wedding stress if you're wondering "Where's Paul?" If they're not familiar with your town and city, GroomGroove.com suggests taking the time to go and pick up your groomsmen at the airport. Do they need driving directions? Print them out from Google maps, not your hand drawn map leading to your father-in-law's country house in the middle of the state. In a similar vein, make sure you know where the groomsmen are staying in the nights before the wedding.article continues...[Page 2 of 3]
