an adventure honeymoon [Page 1 of 3]

Ah...the honeymoon. Nature's way of saying:"You just got married.   Go enjoy yourselves."   For some people, that means a tanfest in the tropics. For others, it means watching the sun set over the Grand Canyon.   But not you.   If   you're reading this, then you're looking for something different.  You want a journey. Scuba in Belize? An ice hotel in Sweden? If you want adventure, here are some ideas from GroomGroove.com.

More and more couples are skipping the traditional honeymoon getaways and are instead opting for something a little more daring. While climbing a mountain or battling pounding rapids with your wife could certainly be some examples of adventurous honeymoons, you don't need to be an extreme sports nut to have a honeymoon that your friends will be talking about for years to come. Your adventure could be soaking up the sun on an island that's off the beaten path from the typical tourist destinations, or it could be a stay at a resort that's anything but ordinary. Here are some ideas to get those gears turning so you can plan an adventure honeymoon of your own.

Life is a Highway

If it's time alone with your sweetheart that you're after, there may be no better way to get it than on the open road - just you, her, and four wheels. A road trip may sound like it would be better suited for you and your buddies back in college, but taking to the road with your new wife can be a great way to get away from it all while getting closer to one another. Whether you pick a specific destination - a landmark or a certain beach, for example - or you just drive for the journey's sake, it's a terrific opportunity to take in some scenery and have some fun.

Plot out your course well ahead of time so you can arrange accommodations at motels along the way.   Alternately, if staying in a different hotel or motel every night sounds too pricey, you can bring your own.   Most reasonable RVs go for $1000-$2000 per week and will provide you with all the amenities you need. Or, if the weather is warm enough and you're both willing to rough it, try driving from campsite to campsite every day. If disassembling a tent every morning and pitching it again every night doesn't bring you two closer together, nothing will. Don't forget the bug spray!
