You know how as a kid, you would death grip a baseball bat or golf club when you were up for bat or at the tee, and all the boys were watching? Shanked it right? Well, a key to both of these sports is breathing, which tends to relax your nerves, and your death grip. It’s the same concept for your wedding speech.Breathe. Breathe again. If you’re a groom or best man giving a wedding speech, breathing is the one thing you can do that will magically help you calm down a little bit. Here’s a tip. When you’re called on to make your wedding speech, as you get out of your chair, take in a big deep breath. Big. Through the nose. Do it discreetly, but breathe big. Taking in a ton of oxygen will help calm that butterfly in your stomach and slow your racing heartbeat. Breathing means being calm. As you get to the podium, don’t just rattle in to your speech. Take another big deep breath, and start speaking. You’ll be amazed.
