Future mothers-in-law can be the toughest to crack for grooms. Even for those mothers-in-law in training who generally get along with their future sons, weighing in on wedding decisions can cause a rift or an all-out throw down between the families. One thing the groom should keep in mind is how invaluable it is to compliment and support the bride, especially in the presence of her mother. The more you plan for the bride’s mom to do - even some of the simpler tasks - the more she will feel included. If there’s anything you can think of to make the planning process more enjoyable for your bride and her mother, thoughtful little acts count for a lot. And remember, just like with your bride’s father, sometimes building relationships take time to get to where you want them to be, so don’t be discouraged if you’re not bff’s just yet.
