I understand that it isn’t expected nor is it the norm these days, but an open bar is something I’ve been looking forward to since the word “yes”. Sure, it is a massive chunk of the budget and sure there will be a few stranded bottles of beer and shots of jager, but hey it is a party isn’t it?
With an expected crowd of around 150 guests this isn’t the worlds largest wedding by any means, but as a young professional who is still working towards his six figure dream job, this is going to take some budgeting.
I am all for spending within your means, and not breaking the bank, so check your priorities. I’d rather spend a few extra dollars on the bar then on a cake people may or may not eat. I’d rather buy my grandfather his whiskey and water than watch him fumble for wooden nickels and attempt to haggle a price with the hot female bartender. Although entertaining, I would prefer he keeps his wooden nickels to himself.
At the end of the day it comes down to the bottom dollar, and if like me, you’re not made of money, you need to focus on the budget and spend accordingly.
Who needs a drink?
