Check out this story, of a kid who found a 2.75 carat diamond. According to the story: “Matthew, a fourth-grader from University Park, was on his way back from summer camp when his family decided to stop by the Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro, Ark. It was a natural draw for his cousin from Connecticut, a hardcore rock collector, and his aunt wanted to make jewelry out of any diamonds she might find…Matthew’s rough diamond hasn’t been appraised, but he said someone at the park told him it could be worth about $3,000.” Now, the guys at Groom Groove would point out that Matthew holds a $3,000 diamond uncut diamond. If the diamond were cut, it would be worth substantially more. Nice find! Wish diamond engagement rings were all like that!
