One of things about wedding photography that strikes us as a bit bland are photographers that insist on cookie-cutter shots. You know what we mean. The photographer that places the wedding party in front of some trees, invariably evergreen, and has the best man put his hand on the grooms shoulder. Now, the fact that the best man and groom never, ever have touched each other, other than perhaps a bear hug from time to time or more likely a good tackle in beach football hasn’t seemed to dawn on wedding photographers seeking to portray closeness. Now, the guys at Groom Groove aren’t big fans of wedding shows, but we’ve been to one or a dozen, and have come across many photographers who do it right. They seem to be frequently recovering photo-journalists turned wedding photographers. They capture the emotion of the moment by moving their cameras, not having the best man place his arm in some fake way. Read more here about what to look for in wedding photos.
