From Groom to Husband: The Married Life

10.02.08 | Comment?

Although Groom Groove might take for granted the large and growing number of couples who choose to abstain from pre-martial sex , we realize that most couples in the 21st century are shacking up and living as “marrieds” before wedding day. To these couples, the marriage itself represents more of a “making it official” than a full life overhaul.

For those brides and grooms who decide to wait until after the honeymoon to play house, however, the adjustment can be a bit of a shock, no matter how many “sleepovers” you two have had prior. Personal grooming, habits (good and bad), sleep (and sex), home maintenance, and food purchases and preparation are just a few of the new things a couple will need to adjust to.  Although married couples living together for the first time might feel like they’re in a foreign country for a while, studies show that these couples are less likely to get divorced than couples who lived together prior to marraige.
