According to The San Francisco Chronicle, California has gone back to the original plan and restored the words “bride” and “groom” to their marriage licenses. The state had made a change in the language after same-sex marriage became legal there. A couple receiving their marriage license in the Eureka State after June 16th, 2008 saw the words “Party A” and “Party B” replace the traditional “bride” and “groom”, in an attempt to appeal to marrying couples across theĀ board. But after some protest in favor of restoring tradition, the Department of Public Health made the change back. Groom Groove wonders if there will be similar backlash in the future as other states legalize same-sex marriage, and whether same-sex couples will have an easy time deciding who will act as “bride” and who will act as “groom” for the purposes of signing this all-important document.
