I don’t know if Bob Dylan was thinking about wedding planning when he wrote “times they are a-changin’” but if so he was an even more insightful man than I’d already thought.
It is safe to assume that if you are a Groom reading this post you’re ten times more involved in the wedding planning process then say your father, or grandfather would have been. Sure I am sure the big guys helped out when needed and when necessary but really our roles have been changing drastically over the past several years. We’ve got input to offer and surprisingly enough, most of the time our lovely brides-to-be appreciate it.
I’ve taken on a lot with this wedding, nothing in comparison to what my fiancé has on her plate, but still I’d like to think that my decisions and actions are playing a major role on this life altering event. From handling all the food and beverage concerns, taking care of the DJ, and really heading up all vendor communications, I am keeping pretty busy. I think what I am noticing is a hell of a lot of teamwork, which I am a big fan of.
I can almost guarantee that without two people sharing the duties that a wedding dictates… the wedding wouldn’t happen.
Buckle in boys, if you haven’t already, study your flower types, understand there are more colours then blue, black, yellow, and red, and don’t forget to be patient, because, “times they are a-changin’”
