The Two Months’ Salary Debate

Readers over at Groom Groove (brides, grooms and husbands/wives) have had a lot to say about how much to spend on a diamond engagement ring.  Some readers voiced that they can understand why grooms would want to spend the DeBeer’s standard two month’s salary on a ring to symbolize love and lasting commitment; in other words, it’s worth it to them. One sharp reader also pointed out that it could take up to a year to save that kind of money, which is a test of your resolve. Many readers, (both male and female) seemed to feel that this tradition does not apply to them.
