The modern groom and bride are faced with many options when it comes to planning their wedding, from who pays for it, to where it takes place and who is in attendance. Traditional weddings are often guided by the bride and grooms’ religion or background, and are often pretty clear on all of these points. But for families of divorce (roughly half) and families who are not financially stable enough to fund the bride’s wedding, this can be a large source of tension. And for grooms and brides who want to include friends from the opposite gender in their respective parties, often tradition excludes their participation. Many marrying couples today are opting for peace and harmony over tradition, and with good reason. Who wants to spend the honeymoon guzzling antacid instead of margaritas?
