valentine's day 2008 ideas [Page 1 of 2]

It's hard for a groom-to-be to be creative on Valentine's Day (unless, of course, you're picking Valentine's Day to pop the question!) If you're just a regular guy whose fiancée is subtly or less subtly waiting for something special this year, GroomGroove.com has thought of a few creative things to do to make Valentine's Day 2008 special for your bride-to-be.

Don't Buy Any "Thing"

Don't buy into Valentine's Day rampant consumerist clichés? Don't feel like lining up at Godiva Chocolates for an hour to buy a $20 box of truffles? Save the sweets for a day she least expects them. Instead, do something a bit more culturally minded. Go visit a museum or a see a gallery opening. Or, if that's not an option, go teach your girl how to play chess. (Or, in some cases, have her teach you). Take your bride-to-be to your local train or bus station and get a couple of $40 tickets to a daytrip destination not far. A crappy movie? You can do that any day. Show your fiancée that you're still a bit of a romantic.

Red Roses

If your less of a cynic, you could start the day off right with a dozen roses. Don't bother with pink or blue roses or anything artificially created (You did know that, right?). Go with red. It's the color of love, a Valentine's classic, and pretty much every woman on the planet would love to get a dozen. Long stem or short stem doesn't really matter, because it's not the stem that counts. Have them delivered direct to your fiancee's place of work, or deliver them yourself, and witness the coworker chorus of "ooh's" and "ahh's" that follows. article continues...
