dean groom or grant groom? [Page 1 of 4]

In real life, where most of us reside, Hollywood’s legendary leading man, Cary Grant, was married no less than five times. James Dean, in his brief time, never married.

Onscreen, where both men are immortalized on opposite ends of the Hollywood spectrum, Grant was considered film’s debonair master of masculinity, paired with legendary beauties such as Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman and Audrey Hepburn. He was almost always pictured in impeccably-tailored suits and ties. He drank scotch. The American Film Academy (AFI) dubbed him “Greatest Male Star of All Time.”

Dean was the ultimate outsider. Flying against convention in his fast cars, wearing white t-shirts, jeans, and leather jackets, Dean caused a ripple in the otherwise uptight fifties without so much as lifting an eyebrow. He preferred coffee and keeping his private life private. Had he married he would’ve no doubt forgone the great white wedding for something spontaneous and low-key like Vegas or a private ceremony abroad.

We interviewed two guys and their leading ladies and asked them what type of groom they think they are: Rebellious or Classic, Dean or Grant?

Profile of a Dean Groom: Rob and his lovely wife, Chantal
Rob and Chantal, both natives of New York City, married in 2005 after dating for thirteen years.

GroomGroove.com: Rob, if you absolutely had to categorize yourself as either a Dean Groom or a Grant groom, which would you choose, and please explain why.

Rob: Dean Groom. I'm anti-ceremony for my part. article continues...

...and personally I'd rather be a Karl Malden groom. He was married ONCE...for 70 years.

Cary Grant was a world-famous bisexual and James Dean was as gay as they come. I'm not criticizing their lifestyle choices or compulsions, but I'd think it might have some bearing on the success or failures of marriages and any other "conventional" relationships....
